Richard Walters specialises in divorce & separation, finance, cohabitee disputes, wills, probate & administration of estates, powers of attorney, court of protection and civil litigation.

Richard completed his degree at University of Wales Aberystwyth and his Solicitors Finals at the College of Law, Chester, before qualifying as a solicitor in 1989.

He joined Grahame Stowe Bateson in December 1989 and soon moved to the Bramley office where he has remained managing that office on a day to day basis ever since. In more recent times Richard has assumed a supervising partner role at the Middleton office.

He has gained extensive knowledge and experience over the past 26 years in all aspects of family law but particularly in relation to divorce/cohabitation and finance, wills and probate, powers of attorney and court of protection and civil litigation.

He is very approachable and quickly places clients at ease adopting a sensible and pragmatic approach to disputes whilst always acting in his clients best interests.

Anne commenced her legal career as a legal advisor to Magistrates, as a Magistrates clerk in Bradford. In 1990, Anne qualified as a solicitor and joined GSB in 1991, becoming a partner in 1993. Anne is a police station and Magistrate’s Court duty solicitor, and has held the Higher Courts (Criminal Proceedings) Qualification since 2006.
Anne is highly experienced in all aspects of criminal defence work and advocacy and is the firm’s Criminal Law Supervisor.
Anne is highly regarded as an experienced and tenacious advocate, with a conscientious approach and commitment to her clients.

Andrew studied law at University College London before returning north to attend the College of Law at York.

Andrew trained at a local high street firm and qualified as a solicitor in 1998. He had a general practice but one of the first criminal cases he dealt with involved a series of armed robberies across Yorkshire and featured on Crimewatch.

In 2000 Andrew decided to practice exclusively in crime and moved to Grahame Stowe Bateson in Leeds. Andrew remained on the Duty Solicitor Scheme in Harrogate and the following he developed was one of the reasons the firm expanded into North Yorkshire and opened an office in Harrogate. In 2004 Andrew was made a partner.

Andrew continues to deal with all types of criminal cases but has a particular interest and expertise in road traffic matters. He has travelled all over the country to represent clients who need to preserve their driving licenses.

Abbi completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Criminology and Psychology at university before completing a post graduate diploma in law.

She qualified as a solicitor in 2005, then obtained her higher rights in 2010

She has been a member of the duty solicitor scheme for over 10 years

On a daily basis she represents clients being interviewed under caution, either under arrest or as a volunteer, at various locations including police stations and appears before both the magistrates and crown court dealing with all types of criminal defence work from speeding offences to murder.

She has been involved in a number of fraud cases of substantial financial complexity. She has a sound knowledge of POCA proceedings.

She is a specialist in complex conspiracy matters and firearms offences including the legislative minefield that is the Firearms Act.

Abbi has substantial experience in representing individuals and firms being investigated by both the health and safety executive and the environment agency.

She has previous experience attending and representing interested parties at Coroners inquests and also prisoners serving life sentences before the parole board.

Stewart Page started work for GSB in 1989. He worked as a Crown Court Clerk where he obtained a wealth of experience preparing serious cases and working alongside many barristers who are now themselves Judges and Queens Counsel.  Stewart then qualified as a fully accredited police station representative in 1997 and has been regularly attending police stations across Yorkshire and beyond dealing with every type of offence; from minor road traffic to multiple allegations of murder.

Stewart qualified as a solicitor in May 2005 and was made a partner in July 2009. He uses the wealth of experience gained over the last 26 years to defend his clients to a very high standard and prides himself on his exceptional client care. Stewart deals with all aspects of Criminal Defence and is a member of the Duty Solicitor Scheme.

Outside of work, Stewart enjoys spending time with family and friends and the occasional skiing holiday.

Helen joined GSB in 2016 and is the Head of the Family and Child Care department having being promoted to partner in October 2023. Helen graduated from Liverpool University in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2009.  

She is a specialist in all areas of family law, but her particular expertise is in representing parents, extended family members and children involved in care proceedings. Helen deals primarily with cases that involve child protection issues and often attends at PLO Meetings with parents who are facing the prospect of care proceedings being issued. 

Helen became a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel in 2012, which recognises her experience and ability in dealing with legal issues relating to children. She is regularly instructed to represent the interests of children both through court appointed children’s guardians and by children directly. 

Helen has a particular expertise in cases involving domestic violence having worked with a number of charities over the years providing them with support and assistance on legal issues.  

Helen has a kind and empathetic manner which together with her clear and proactive advice means that her client care is second to none. 

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and joined the firm in 2007 and specialises in Wills, probate and trust law.

He worked in retail management for 15 years before switching professions obtaining an MBA from the University of Leeds in 1996 and then studied Law at the College of Law in York while running his own company and completing his legal studies.

Richard is able to steer clients through the complex maze of making a Will as well as dealing compassionately with probate work once someone has died including Deeds of Variation and constitution of trusts.

He advises on Court of Protection work from Lasting Powers of Attorney the appointment of deputies and representing clients at contested Court hearings.

Richard advises on able bodied and disabled trusts as well as acting as financial deputy for disabled clients.

He advises disappointed clients who may not have received anything from a deceased person’s estate and deals with disputed probate or contentious Inheritance Act claims.

Adam specialises in family law.

Prior to training as a Solicitor he studied History, Politics and Swedish Language at the University of East Anglia and Karlstad University (Sweden). He later converted this to a Graduate Diploma in Law at Leeds Metropolitan University, where he also completed the Legal Practice Course.

Adam worked in Sales and Marketing for 8 years before joining Grahame Stowe Bateson in 2006.

Adam represents clients in all areas of family law including children cases where there are disputes over residence and contact, however he specializes in public law proceedings, Care and child protection matters.

He is a member of the Law Society Children panel representing parents, extended family members and children themselves in cases where the local authority are involved. Such cases are often an emotional time for all those involved. Adam always aims to provide a professional yet down to earth approach to assist clients in understanding and dealing with these complex cases.

He conducts his own advocacy in both the Family Courts and High Court and aims to provide clients with consistency from the 1^st appointment in the office through to representation in Court.

Adam is also a former member of the Law Society Criminal (Duty Solicitor) Panel. He has experience attending police stations and Magistrates Courts. He specializes in cases where clients face criminal charges and require assistance with related family matters, in particular where parents are alleged to have mistreated their children.
