Stamp Duty Land Tax Changes

On the 31st March 2025 the 0% SDLT threshold for first time buyers purchasing their main residence will reduce from £425,000 to £300,000.

On the same date the temporary SDLT threshold increase on a purchase by all buyers of their main residence will end and the rates will drop back to:

£925,001 to £1.5 million 10%

 

The purchase of second properties will still attract the enhanced rate of 5% (on the value above £40,000) on top of the rates above.
